Case study on handicrafts and tourism in Bolivia

In 2017, I was invited to produce a case study on the contribution of the Uniterra program to strengthening skills and partnerships within the handicraft sector in Bolivia.

Operating in several countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas, this volunteer cooperation and international development program aimed to build the capacities of local stakeholders, in order to increase employment opportunities and foster entrepreneurship for women and youth.

Deliverables included a case study in Canada's two official languages (English and French) aimed at a wide range of audiences, including funders, donors, former volunteers and the Canadian public.

My work involved:

  • collecting and sorting information on the challenges addressed by the Uniterra program, as well as the overall approach and results achieved in the fields of handicrafts and tourism in Bolivia;

  • writing the content of the case study in Canada’s both official languages (English and French);

  • collecting and selecting photos that illustrate the work carried out by the Uniterra program in handicraft and tourism in Bolivia.

This case study explores the creation of linkages between the handicraft and tourism sectors in Bolivia, which has enabled many craftswomen to improve their incomes.
